PROGRAMS

Buddy Walk 2022-45-2.jpg

Buddy Walk

Each year our community gathers in Burlington, Vermont, for our annual Buddy Walk to raise awareness and promote acceptance of people with Down syndrome. The Champlain Valley Down Syndrome Group's first Buddy Walk was organized and held in October, 2011 and each year we come together as a community to celebrate. The Buddy Walk is a registered event of the National Down Syndrome Society. Champlain Valley Buddy Walk is our group's only fundraiser.

Conference

Annual Conference

The Champlain Valley Down Syndrome Group will provide financial support to a limited number of families to attend the Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress' annual conference which takes place in March. The conference features workshops ranging from planning for the future, sibling workshops, developing IEP's and much more. Check the MDSC website for more information.

Parents First Call

A Down syndrome diagnosis for your baby can result in a wide range of emotions. You are not alone – each year in the United States, about 1 in every 700 babies are born with Down syndrome. The Champlain Valley Down Syndrome group has collaborated with Vermont Family Network to establish a Parents First Call program in 2023. We are here for you and can offer free information, resources and opportunities to connect with a parent mentor.
